did you hike down to the river?

  4. Yeah, we hiked a 12-mile loop with the Westermeyers, but not quite down to the river. They had a campsite down there, so they stayed, but we hiked back up to the rim. It was gorgeous! All the cacti and desert plants were green and blooming from the recent rains.
Other NPs we camped in included Grand Staircase/Escalante National Monument in southern Utah (not technically a Park, but close), and the Wasatch-Cache National Forest in northern Utah. We stopped at the Umatilla National Forest in Oregon and the Kootenai National Forest in Montana.
